Sub: Further extension of time for payment of tax to avail the benefits under Karasamadhana Scheme, 2021- Reg.

PREAMBLE:

The Hon'ble Chief Minister and Finance Minister in his Budget Speech for the year 2021-22 made on 8th March, 2021 had announced that a Karasamadhana Scheme will be introduced with a view to reduce the arrears arising out of the enactments administered by the Commercial Tax Department which existed before the introduction of Goods and Services Tax Act. Accordingly, a Scheme for waiver of penalty and interest was formulated and issued vide Order under reference (1) read above.

2. Considering the request of the Karnataka State Tax Practitioners Association (R), Bangalore, time for completion of assessments /re-assessments/rectification and other proceedings was extended upto 31-08-2021 and date of payment was also extended upto 3112-2021 vide Order under reference (2) read above.

3. Subsequently, Karnatak Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Hubballi and Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mangaluru had represented for further extension of time limit for completion of assessments/re-assessment/rectification and other proceedings on account of inconvenience faced by Trade and Industries due to lockdown imposed in the State to avail the benefits under Karasamadhana Scheme, 2021. Accordingly, time for completion of Assessments/re-assessments/rectification and other proceedings was extended upto 30-102021 vide Order under reference (3) read above.

4. Now, the Trade and Industry Associations have again requested for further extension of time limit for payment of tax to avail the benefits under the Karasamadhana Scheme, 2021.

5. The Government has examined the above request and is pleased to pass the following Order.

In the Government Order (2) read above,

a. for the figures and punctuations "31.12.2021'', the figures and punctuations "31.01.2022'' shall be substituted.

b. for the figures and punctuations "15.01.2022'', the figures and punctuations "15.02.2022'' shall be substituted.
