Entrustment of functions of Customs Officers to Police Officers

Notification No. 20/88-Cus. (N.T.), dated 12th April, 1988

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government hereby entrusts to the Police Officers, mentioned in column (2) of the Table below, posted in the States of Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, the functions of an officer of customs specified in the corresponding entry in column (3) of the said Table, and directs that each such officer, shall exercise the functions of an officer of customs within the local limits of his jurisdiction, only for the purposes of the provisions of Chapter IVB of said Customs Act :-
